Welcome to the website of Woman’s Place of St. Louis,
located at 7372 Marietta Avenue in Maplewood, Missouri.
We are a drop-in center, welcoming all women to a
peaceful, safe place where you can rest, relax, visit
with staff or friends, speak confidentially, and be
heard.

Especially do we welcome all women who have experienced
or are experiencing violence in their lives. Here you
will find people who understand what you are going
through and are prepared to help you sort through your
situation so that you can make good decisions for your
own safety and, perhaps, the safety of your children or
other dependents.
We offer a variety of services to women. Besides
offering hospitality and safety, we can help you find
the resources you need if you wish. Many women have
found here the space, time and attention needed to chart
a new and healthier way for themselves and their
children.
We offer support groups to women who are dealing
with anger and domestic violence. We offer a number of
short-term classes for personal growth and
self-empowerment. Click on our
Calendar and
you will find what is going on now. Go to
Programs & Support Groups
to see what is scheduled in the months to come.
Something there may be just what you’re looking for.
As a drop in center, you don’t need an appointment to
come by.
We don’t do long term counseling, but if that is
your need, we can help you find counseling opportunities
that might work for you.
We are not a shelter. If this is your need, we
can help you find Shelters in the larger St. Louis Metro
area.
There is a chart at the bottom of this page that
will give you the phone numbers of Metro St. Louis
agencies that can help women with a variety of
experiences and needs. Be sure to scroll on down.
DID YOU KNOW…
Millions of women just like you are dealing with
domestic violence. Although it is usually hidden,
this kind of abuse is very common and affects people
from many walks of life -- school teachers, celebrities,
nurses, bankers, home makers, bus drivers, etc.
Nothing you say or do causes your partner, husband, or
boyfriend to act violently toward you, and it is
impossible for you to prevent their attacks by being the
perfect partner. Some people think that using violence
is the best way to solve problems, and that it’s okay to
hit a woman. But no one has the right to physically
harm you. That kind of behavior is against the law.
Domestic violence does not go away on its own. It tends
to get worse and become more frequent with time. And it
is often harmful to your children as well.
If this is your experience, get
help.
If you are in an abusive situation,
don’t wait. There
is help, and situations can
become very dangerous with little or no warning.
If you are a friend, acquaintance or loved one of
someone who is in an abusive situation, the information
on this site may be useful to you. We are here to help.
Contact us, drop by, or give us a call. There is usually
little or no waiting to see one of our staff.
If you have comments or suggestions that would make
our website easier to use or more helpful to women, they
would be most welcome.
